Young people, anthropology and Romanesque heritage

For one week in June 2027, we will invite young people from various countries to the hill of Vézelay. a quest for understanding of the human being, his roots, his challenges, in today's context.

This course is a time shared between young people of different origins in search of coherence between a desire for personal fulfilment and a need for a foundation on which to make future choices.
In a nutshell: «How can I make my personal path part of a collective destiny? Where do I fit in?»

The privileged setting of Vézelay, with its beautiful landscapes and architecture, will be a call to open your eyes and marvel.

Eight days will be devoted to a gradual approach to human resources, aspirations and struggles, in the light of the stories carved into the stone of the basilica 900 years ago.
The days will be punctuated by times of silence, listening, writing and sharing.

A walk in the vicinity of the hill, the awakening of the voice through singing, the relevance of the gaze through drawing, will constitute the warm-up for the morning.
In the afternoon will be devoted to reading the sculptures in the basilica, and to teaching and meetings with people who are passionate about architecture, symbolism and theology.

By an artistic, physical and rational approach, In this way, each person is offered a space in which to speak out in their own way, driven by an awareness of their presence in the world, to others and to themselves.

This course will take place in English, and the pleasure ofFrench for everyday life.

Each participant will have the opportunity to continue with a two to eight week work placement in Vézelay (see heritage mediation training - summer courses in Vézelay) or on one of the Maison du Visiteur partner sites.
