Talks« 2025-2026

Talking points“ of the Maison du Visiteur bring people together around a speaker who wishes to pass on the message in the friendly atmosphere of a small gathering a search or a study being linked directly or indirectly at the basilica. Each evening ends with an aperitif to round off the evening's festivities.

In 2024 and 2025, these talks were led by people who shared their work on one or other of the Basilica's capitals, as well as on its architecture. There were also talks on the wonders of the golden ratio, and on the symbolism of the masculine and feminine...

Françoise Buire, Hélène Ramin, Jean-Noël André, Luc Duina and Jacques Drouhin presented their book «La Madeleine de Vézelay - Comme vous l'avez jamais vu», published in April 2024.

At the beginning of January 2026, we welcomed Christophe Rogez, a German-speaking guide with many years' experience, notably in Chartres and in several other places in Europe. In the wake of Christmas, he took us on a poetic tour of medieval works on the theme of the coming of the Child.

The next Causerie will take place Thursday 5 March at 6pm with Luc Duina, interior designer.

«Hiram, architect from earth to heaven. "

In the light of the biblical encounter between the architect Hiram and the sovereign Solomon, we will follow the paths of an art of building driven by the universal quest for the absolute. The construction of the Madeleine church in Vézelay is an eminent example of this. Luc invites us to explore the constructive epic of several civilisations that have left remarkable testimonies to an art of building in which each, in its own way, attempted to unite earth with heaven.

Thursday 26 March at 6pm Françoise Buire, iconographer, and Hélène Ramin from the Maison du Visiteur will present their work on a capital in the nave of the basilica.
