Postcard “Cerf” Basilica of Vézelay

In mythology the unicorn represents the divine, here in the basilica of Vézelay the deer with a carved cross crowning his head symbolizes Christ.

Peaceful in front of the aggressive dog (slightly damaged) the deer faces him, see even the welcome serenely.

The deer is lit in the morning at the winter solstice inviting those who are looking to enter into this same dynamic.
